English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship 2011

Alt text here...
English Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship 2011 was played at Alwoodley Golf Club from the 2nd – 4th August 2011.

I was in the field amongst many players from a variety of different countries. There where also many players who play for their country at either u18 or ladies level.

I managed to get off to a good start with a 71 (-2 par). which put me in tied 3rd. This round included ; 4 birdies and an EAGLE!! The 2nd round was not as successful, i shot 77 (+4) which took down the leaderboard. The 3rd round was slightly better, i shot a 75 (+2) which brought me back up the leadboard, i had a nice finish to the round with birdies on both 17,and 18.

Then the weather got worse!!...The 4th round i shot a 77 (+4) which was good considering the weather conditions. I finished in 11th position which I was very happy with.

English Girls' Close Amateur Championship 2011

I played at Ellesborough Golf Club in the English Girls’ Close Amateur Championship 2011. My scores over the 4 rounds where : 75 76 72 70. 126 players played 36 holes over the course of two days and only 36 qualified. The people that qualify play 36 holes in one day. I qualified in tied 8th position. I played really good on the last day and worked my way up the leaderboard. I finished in 2nd place which was really successful as my final round included 6 birdies!

Northern County match week

I have just been playing in the northern county match week. the counties that where competing in this event where: yorkshire, lancashire, cheshire, durham and northumberland.

I was playing for the Yorkshire ladies team. I played very well all week, winning the majority of my matches. I was very successful in my singles match against lancashire. The player who i was against is an england international golfer, who has represented and been part of many england teams.

I beat her 3 & 2, we both played some very good golf and was a close match but i managed to win. Yorkshire beat: cheshire, durham, cumbria, nothumberland but unfortunately lost to lancashire. This meant Yorkshire came in 2nd and Lancashire came in 1st.

Overall it was a very enjoyable 5 days and i have gained knowledge and a lot more experience, which will be useful for the future!!

Exams

Can’t Wait to get my AS level exams out of the way and then i can focus all my attention in preparing for the up and coming competitions in the summer.

England u18 training is in the half term, so a great way to practice and compete with the other members of the squad. Plenty of fitness will be involved as well which i will enjoy !

ISGA finals

Lingfield was a difficult golf course and the windy weather conditions made it much harder, some very high scoring over the 2days of playing. I came 5th out of 44 boys and i was the only girl.Reasonably happy with the result but slightly dissapointed with my scoring. Its all a learning curve for the future!!
